SB1542 Summary

• Amends the Sex Offenders Registration Act to require registration for persons convicted of human trafficking for commercial sex under Section 748 of Title 21.

• Removes simple sexual assault (Section 741) from the offenses requiring sex offender registration unless the offense involved sexual abuse or sexual exploitation.

• Requires summary removal of individuals currently registered under Section 741 from the sex offender registry on the effective date, except those whose convictions involved sexual abuse or sexual exploitation.

• Extends registration requirements to include deferred judgments (in addition to convictions) for qualifying sex offenses from other states, federal courts, tribal courts, and foreign countries.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
