Senate Bill 1553 Summary

• Amends 64 O.S. 2011, Section 1006 to change terminology regarding Land Office leadership positions from "chairman" and "vice-chairman" to "chair" and "vice-chair"

• The Governor remains designated as chair ex officio of the Commissioners of the Land Office, with Commissioners electing a vice-chair from their body

• Clarifies that the vice-chair acts as chair during the absence of the chair or if the chair fails, neglects, or refuses to act

• Maintains that the Secretary of the Land Office selects all employees deemed necessary, except the General Counsel who is selected by majority Commission vote

• Effective date: November 1, 2014
