SB 1577 Summary

• Amends 51 O.S. 2011, Section 24A.10 regarding confidentiality of public records under Oklahoma's open records law.

• Adds institutions within the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education to the list of entities authorized to keep certain business information confidential, alongside the Department of Commerce, Department of Career and Technology Education, technology center school districts, and the Oklahoma Film and Music Office.

• Allows higher education institutions to maintain confidentiality of business plans, feasibility studies, financing proposals, marketing plans, financial statements, trade secrets, proprietary business information, and related confidentiality agreements submitted for business development or customized training purposes.

• Specifies that confidential information may be disclosed when the submitting person or entity consents to disclosure.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2014.
