SB 1599 Summary

• Amends 74 O.S. 2011, Section 500.6 to allow reimbursement of fuel costs for private airplanes or aircraft used for law enforcement purposes, specifically searches or criminal pursuits

• Non-elected law enforcement officials and citizens who offer personal aircraft for law enforcement purposes may be reimbursed by the requesting public entity for fuel costs incurred during official business

• Requires each public entity authorizing use of private aircraft for such purposes to establish a policy verifying information necessary for reimbursement

• Mandates that aircraft use and reimbursement information be recorded and made publicly available in the same manner as other public fund expenditures

• Maintains existing requirement that reimbursement combined with per diem and lodging cannot exceed the equivalent cost of using a private automobile for the same trip
