SB 1664 Summary

• Increases the maximum annual award limit for the Oklahoma Dental Loan Repayment Program from $25,000 to $50,000 per year.

• General practice dentists participating in the program must agree to provide dental care in a designated Dental Health Professional Shortage Area (DHPSA).

• Exempts pediatric dentistry specialists and dentists practicing in Federally Qualified Health Centers, county health departments, or city-county health departments from the DHPSA requirement.

• Removes limitations on award amounts and grants the State Department of Health discretion to establish awards based on available funding and participant loan indebtedness.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
