Senate Bill 1777 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma smoking laws (21 O.S. Section 1247 and 63 O.S. Section 1-1523) to address smoking in state veterans centers.

• Veterans centers operated by the state must be designated nonsmoking effective January 1, 2015, with outdoor designated smoking areas permitted for resident veterans only during the transition period.

• All state veterans centers must become entirely nonsmoking facilities with no designated smoking areas by January 1, 2018.

• Maintains existing exemptions for stand-alone bars, taverns, cigar bars, bingo facilities, and other specified locations under current smoking prohibition laws.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2014.
