SB 1793 Summary

• Authorizes Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth to conduct or provide continuing professional education and training for improving services to children.

• Expands Office of Juvenile System Oversight duties to receive and investigate complaints from foster parents alleging retaliation, harassment, or discrimination by Department of Human Services or child-placing agency employees.

• Requires Office of Client Advocacy to investigate foster parent complaints received by Office of Juvenile System Oversight and work to resolve them within 60 days.

• Mandates Department of Human Services and child-placing agencies provide statement of foster parents' rights annually and establish grievance procedures with required notification, timely resolution, and protection against retaliation.

• Effective November 1, 2014.
