Senate Bill 1809 Summary

• Amends the Oklahoma Certified Real Estate Appraisers Act to require applicants for original certification to submit to a criminal history records search effective January 1, 2015.

• Establishes criminal background check procedures requiring applicants to submit fingerprints to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for state and national criminal history searches not more than 90 days old.

• Denies certification to applicants convicted of felonies within five years before application or any felony involving fraud, dishonesty, breach of trust, or money laundering.

• Requires the Real Estate Appraiser Board to maintain confidentiality of criminal history information obtained from the OSBI or FBI and restrict its use to evaluating applicant eligibility.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2014.
