Senate Bill 1815 Summary

• Prohibits political subdivisions and state agencies from establishing or maintaining plans that evaluate, promote, compensate, or discipline peace officers based on the number or type of traffic citations issued.

• Prohibits requiring or suggesting to peace officers, justices of the peace, or judges that they meet predetermined expectations regarding traffic citations issued or money collected from traffic convictions.

• Allows municipalities to obtain budgetary information and estimates from municipal courts about anticipated revenue collection, without violating the prohibition on quota-based plans.

• Establishes violations as grounds for removal from office for elected officials and grounds for removal from position for non-elected officials.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2014.
