SB 1820 Summary

• Amends the Anti-Drug Diversion Act to control access to central repository information about controlled substance dispensing

• Permits access to the confidential database for specific authorized persons including state law enforcement, DEA representatives, state board executives/investigators, grand juries, and Department of Mental Health officials

• Adds new category allowing federal government medical practitioners employed in Oklahoma to access the information at the discretion of the Director of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control

• Maintains strict confidentiality protections while allowing law enforcement and regulatory agencies to access data for investigations and to prevent drug diversion

• Effective November 1, 2014
