SB 1827 Summary

• Allows parents or guardians to submit a written request to exempt their child from any or all parts of Oklahoma School Testing Program tests.

• School districts are required to grant exemption requests submitted by parents or guardians.

• If an exemption request is submitted after testing has begun, any tests already completed before the request will be scored and included in the student's records.

• Adds new section to Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1210.508-2 of Title 70.

• Takes effect July 1, 2014, with emergency clause making it effective immediately upon passage and approval.
