SB1878 Summary

• Expands the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners' jurisdiction by requiring unlicensed individuals holding themselves out as osteopathic physicians to submit to Board authority.

• Creates two new license types: a Temporary Resident License for out-of-state physicians seeking short-term training rotations (1-2 months) and a Resident Training License for medical school graduates during internship or PGY-1 year, both with limited scope and no prescribing privileges independent of their programs.

• Authorizes the Board to hire an Executive Director and requires at least one investigator to be certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) as a peace officer.

• Provides Board members with daily per diem compensation and travel reimbursement for meetings and removes Board authority to hold examinations.

• Effective November 1, 2014.
