SB 1937 Summary

• Department of Human Services must provide each youth in its custody with an annual credit report.

• Department shall inform the court with jurisdiction over the youth of any inaccuracies showing identity theft or fraudulent activity on behalf of the youth.

• Department may implement requirements in stages, beginning with youth in the independent living program whose credit rating may affect employment and housing opportunities after leaving custody.

• Department must submit annual reports to the Senate and House Health and Human Services committees on implementation, including number of youths receiving reports, report frequency, and administrative issues, with reports continuing until November 1, 2018.

• Act becomes effective November 1, 2014.
