SB 1958 Summary

• Creates the Skills for Jobs Working Group, effective until July 1, 2015, to study Oklahoma's workforce projections and recommend collaboration among education and workforce agencies.

• Membership comprises 9 members: representatives from Career and Technology Education, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, State Department of Education, Department of Labor, Department of Commerce, and four legislative members from Senate and House committees.

• Working group must be appointed within 30 days and conduct an organizational meeting within 60 days, with members from Senate committees serving as cochairs.

• Duties include reviewing industry sectors, identifying workforce needs, evaluating institutional capacity to meet those needs, identifying collaboration opportunities, and publicizing workforce projections.

• Group members receive no compensation, meetings are subject to Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, and a report with recommendations must be submitted by July 1, 2015.
