SB 1969 Summary

• Directs the State Fire Marshal to administer the Rural Fire Coordinator Program for substate planning districts.

• Requires any substate planning district that employed a Rural Fire Coordinator prior to January 1, 2014, to participate in the program.

• Rural Fire Coordinators shall provide technical assistance to rural fire departments in equipment, communications, and training; administer state and federal grant programs; coordinate emergency fire suppression efforts; and certify rural fire departments in compliance with Title 19, Section 901.56.

• Adds new Section 901.62 to Title 19 of the Oklahoma Statutes to codify the Rural Fire Coordinator Program.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
