SB 1994 Summary

• Prohibits the State of Oklahoma and political subdivisions (counties, municipalities, agencies) from establishing a Health Care Exchange for the purchase of health insurance.

• Defines "Health Care Exchange" as equivalent to "American Health Benefit Exchange" under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (P.L. 111-148) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (P.L. 111-152).

• Voids any health insurance contracts purchased or established in violation of this prohibition and prevents enforcement of such contracts in Oklahoma courts.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2014.
