• Supports the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2014, to provide safe disposal of prescription drugs and educate the public about medication abuse risks.

• Acknowledges that unintentional prescription drug overdoses killed 534 Oklahomans in 2012, with one in eight Oklahomans abusing prescription painkillers.

• Notes that prescription drug abuse is the leading cause of death for Oklahomans aged 18-55 and was the number one cause of overdose deaths in Oklahoma in 2013, with hydrocodone involved in more deaths than methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine combined.

• Encourages all Oklahomans to deposit unused or unneeded prescription drugs at designated drop-off sites.

• Directs distribution of the resolution to the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control and the Eagle Ridge Institute.
