Oklahoma HB 1014 Summary

• Terminates the Oklahoma Liquefied Petroleum Gas Research, Marketing and Safety Commission effective November 1, 2015, and re-creates it as a private nonprofit organization called the Oklahoma Propane Education and Safety Council.

• Transfers all funds, equipment, and property from the state commission to the private nonprofit council, which are no longer considered state property and may be disposed of without regard to state surplus property laws.

• Authorizes the council to employ personnel, adopt bylaws, collect assessments, sue and be sued, and perform all duties previously required of the state commission under the Oklahoma Liquefied Petroleum Gas Research, Marketing and Safety Act.

• Prohibits council funds from being expended to promote or oppose any candidate for public office, and grants district courts authority to enjoin violations and award costs and attorney fees to the council.

• Ensures existing contracts and financial obligations of the former state commission remain in effect until fulfilled.
