HB 1288 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 12-227 to add road-service vehicles to the list of vehicles permitted to use flashing lights on Oklahoma highways.

• Authorizes commercially registered road-service vehicles to display flashing red and blue lights visible from at least 500 feet to the rear when providing on-site repairs to disabled Class A vehicles.

• Requires road-service vehicles to bear a company name sign on each side visible from at least 200 feet and use flashing lights only to warn approaching drivers to exercise caution.

• Defines "road-service vehicle" as a commercially registered vehicle capable of performing on-site repairs for Class A vehicles.

• Violations of lamp restrictions remain punishable as misdemeanors with up to six months jail time, a fine up to $2,000, or both; effective November 1, 2015.
