HB1424 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma's Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) statute to add authority for summary suspension of peace officer certification without prior notice if CLEET finds the officer's actions may present danger to themselves, the public, a family/household member, or involve a crime against a minor.

• Adds provision allowing CLEET certification of peace officer to be suspended by the Council if an employing agency or person fails to reimburse the original agency for salary paid during basic police training within six (6) months.

• Expands CLEET's disciplinary authority to include suspension or revocation of certification based on termination or resignation while under investigation, with Council review and majority vote required.

• Applies effective date of November 1, 2015 to all amendments to 70 O.S. 2011, Section 3311.
