HB 1438 Summary

• All hospice programs in Oklahoma must be managed by an administrator meeting requirements established in the bill, effective November 1, 2015.

• Hospice administrators are required to complete 8 hours of continuing education each calendar year, with courses consisting of a minimum of 45 minutes in length and available either in person or online.

• Two (2) of the required 8 hours must cover ethics, and membership in a statewide hospice care organization counts as one (1) hour of ethics credit annually.

• The State Board of Health shall promulgate rules for continuing education course qualifications and may collaborate with statewide hospice organizations to develop course standards.

• Hospice programs must maintain records demonstrating administrator completion of required continuing education, which the State Department of Health may request at any time.
