State legislature preempts all local legislation concerning firearms, knives, components, ammunition, and supplies, making existing or future municipal ordinances on these matters null and void.

Municipalities may adopt ordinances only regarding firearm discharge within their jurisdiction and traffic citations for improper firearm transportation, with penalties not exceeding those in the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act.

Public and private schools may create policies regulating knife possession on school property, in school buses, or in vehicles used for school transportation.

Municipalities are prohibited from adopting ordinances concerning sale, purchase, transfer, ownership, possession, carrying, licensing, registration, or taxation of firearms and knives, except that municipal ordinances on improper firearm or knife transportation may not include property confiscation provisions.

Persons whose preemption rights are violated may bring civil action against individuals, municipalities, and political subdivisions for injunctive relief or monetary damages; act becomes effective November 1, 2015.
