HB 1473 Summary

• Deletes the "F" grade from the school grading scale, reducing grades to A, B, C, and D only.

• Eliminates whole school performance (previously 50%) and bottom quartile growth (previously 25%) as separate components of school grade calculations.

• Establishes 75% of school grades based on factors other than test scores as determined by State Board of Education rules.

• Maintains 25% of school grades based on whole school growth, measured by student proficiency level improvements on criterion-referenced and end-of-instruction tests.

• Effective July 1, 2015, with an emergency clause allowing immediate implementation upon passage and approval.
