HB 1506 Summary

• Prohibits operators and passengers of motor vehicles from smoking cigarettes, pipes, or cigars when a child 13 years of age or younger is present in the vehicle.

• Imposes a minimum fine of $100 for violations of the smoking prohibition.

• Prohibits law enforcement officers from making routine traffic stops solely for the purpose of enforcing this act.

• Defines "motor vehicle" to include passenger compartments of pickups, vans, minivans, and sport utility vehicles, but excludes trucks, truck-tractors, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and motorized bicycles.

• Effective date: November 1, 2015.
