HB 1510 Summary

• Modifies the definition of "abuse" in the Oklahoma Children's Code to permit parents to use ordinary force for discipline including spanking, switching, or paddling without constituting abuse.

• Amends child abuse investigation procedures to require expungement of all records when investigations determine the incident resulted from reasonable exercise of parental discipline involving ordinary force.

• References to certain disciplinary actions are deleted from child abuse investigation statutes to align with the modified definition of abuse.

• Effective November 1, 2015.
