HB 1593 Summary

• Amends 82 O.S. 2011, Section 105.6, relating to water rights and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board's authority to determine water usage rights from stream systems.

• Clarifies that the Oklahoma Water Resources Board may institute suits on behalf of the state to determine all rights to water use in a stream system and shall prosecute such suits to final adjudication.

• Establishes that costs of adjudication suits, including state costs, shall be charged against each party in proportion to the amount of water rights allotted.

• Specifies that neither the filing of such suits nor adjudication in such suits shall be a condition precedent to the granting of permits and licenses as authorized by law (effective June 10, 1963).

• Effective date: November 1, 2015.
