HB 1654 Summary

• Requires persons who assist, accompany, transport, guide, or aid others in taking wildlife for compensation to obtain a hunting guide license from the Department of Wildlife Conservation.

• Sets annual license fees at $100.00 for residents and $300.00 for nonresidents.

• Exempts landowners and agricultural lessees guiding on their own properties, guides on commercially licensed hunting areas, hunting dog trial participants, and persons guiding on Department-managed lands.

• Requires hunting guide licensees to obtain all other hunting licenses required by law.

• Establishes penalties of up to $1,000.00 in fines or up to six months in county jail for violations.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2015.
