HB1666 Summary

• Enacts the "Neglected or Abandoned Residential Property Nuisance Abatement Act" to establish a process for addressing nuisance conditions at single- or multi-family residential properties in Oklahoma.

• Requires persons petitioning a district attorney to abate nuisance conditions to gather at least 100 signatures from property owners within a one-mile radius of the target property, with a map attachment identifying the property location.

• Authorizes district attorneys to request court appointment of a receiver with demonstrated residential property management experience and a business office in the county where the property is located; court may require a performance bond.

• Grants receivers power to collect rental income and other payments that would otherwise go to the property owner and use those funds to abate nuisance conditions; if funds are insufficient, court may order additional equitable relief.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2015.
