HB 1790 Summary

• Eliminates earnings limitations for retired members of the Teachers' Retirement System of Oklahoma (OTRS) who have been retired for at least 60 calendar days.

• Maintains the 60-day waiting period after a member's last day of pre-retirement employment before they can be employed by Oklahoma public schools.

• Allows retired members to receive unlimited annualized earnings from public school employment while continuing to receive full monthly retirement benefits, regardless of earnings amount.

• Requires public school districts employing retired OTRS members to make contributions to the System as specified in related statutes.

• Effective July 1, 2015, with an emergency clause declaring the act effective immediately upon passage and approval.
