HB1814 Summary

• Creates the Vietnam War Medallion Program to award eligible veterans a medallion, medal, and certificate of appreciation.

• Eligible recipients must have been Oklahoma residents when entering military service, served on active duty between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975, and been honorably separated/discharged or still in honorable active service.

• The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs shall administer the program, set procedures for awarding medals, and solicit medallion designs from elementary and secondary schools, veterans' groups, and other interested parties.

• The Department of Veterans Affairs is authorized to expend appropriated funds for the cost of medals, medallions, and certificates subject to availability of funds.

• Effective date: November 1, 2015.
