Municipalities are prohibited from adopting, enacting, or enforcing ordinances that authorize automated recording equipment or systems to enforce traffic signals, speed limits, or other traffic laws, or to impose or collect civil or criminal fines related to such violations.

Counties are prohibited from adopting, enacting, or enforcing resolutions that authorize automated recording equipment or systems to enforce traffic signals, speed limits, or other traffic laws, or to impose or collect civil or criminal fines related to such violations.

Any municipality or county currently using automated recording equipment or systems must remove such equipment by January 1, 2016.

The prohibition does not apply to photo-monitoring systems used by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for toll collection and enforcement of toll collection violations.

"Automated recording equipment or system" is defined as a camera or optical device installed with a traffic-control signal or radar speed-detection equipment designed to record license plate images of vehicles violating traffic signals or posted speed limits.

The act becomes effective November 1, 2015.
