HB1846 Summary

• Permits persons with current and valid Oklahoma driver licenses or identification cards to submit voter registration applications electronically through a secure website established by the Secretary of the State Election Board.

• Applicants must register to vote at the address shown on their driver license or identification card and must affirmatively consent to the use of their driver license or identification card signature for voter registration purposes.

• Secretary of State Election Board shall obtain a digital copy of the applicant's driver license or identification card from the Department of Public Safety, compare submitted information for compliance, and either process the application with the digital signature or notify the applicant of rejection by electronic mail.

• Electronic voter registration applications are processed the same as mail applications and notification of disposition may be sent by electronic means instead of first-class mail.

• Act becomes effective November 1, 2015.
