HB 1857 Summary

• Limits advance notice requirements for fur dealer licenses to nonresidents only, removing the requirement for all fur dealers to provide notice of business locations to the Director.

• Modifies trapping permit requirements to allow trappers to carry written permission when setting and tending traps, rather than keeping the permit physically on their person at all times.

• Updates trap identification requirements to clarify that traps must bear the owner's name or identification, except for traps set on property owned or leased by the trap owner.

• Removes the requirement for state and federal wildlife management employees to post signs when using smooth-jawed double-spring offset traps, allowing them to conduct wildlife management activities for protection of agriculture, property, human health, and natural resources without posting requirements.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2015.
