HB 1906 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma Statutes Title 11, Section 14-111 regarding municipal ordinance enforcement, fines, and penalties.

• Prohibits municipalities from levying fines or deferral fees to waive the transmittal of traffic-related offense abstracts to the Department of Public Safety.

• Maintains existing fine limits for various municipal court violations including maximum fines of $1,200 for courts of record, $1,250 for alcohol/drug-related traffic offenses, and tiered fines up to $7,500 for prostitution-related violations.

• Establishes that municipalities cannot levy fines exceeding $50 until they have compiled and published their penal ordinances as required by law.

• Takes effect November 1, 2015.
