House Bill 2074 Summary

• Amends 74 O.S. 2011, Section 18b to modify and expand the duties of the Oklahoma Attorney General as chief law officer of the state.

• Adds new duty 17 requiring the Attorney General to respond to any request for an opinion from a Legislature member regardless of subject matter with a written opinion determinative of the law.

• Adds new duty 23 requiring the Attorney General to investigate and prosecute ethics violations alleged by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission if criminal prosecution is warranted.

• Requires multicounty grand juries convened by the Attorney General to be composed of citizens from each county on a pro rata basis by county.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2015.
