OK HB2209

Allows residents of dependent school districts to vote in independent school district board elections and ad valorem tax elections if they make a payment equal to the property tax liability attributable to the general and building fund millage rates of the dependent district.

Prohibits persons who vote in independent school district board elections from voting in dependent district board elections unless they are a parent or legal guardian with a student currently attending a school in the dependent district.

Allows parent or legal guardians to continue voting in dependent district board elections while they have a student enrolled in the dependent district.

Restricts former parents or guardians from voting in independent district ad valorem tax levy elections after all their students graduate unless they make the prescribed payment amount to the independent school district.

Permits former parents or guardians to vote in dependent district ad valorem tax levy elections if they reside in the dependent district.

Effective date: November 1, 2015.
