HB 2224 Summary

• Amends 12 O.S. 2011, Section 936 to allow prevailing parties to recover reasonable attorney fees set by the court in civil actions involving labor, services, accounts, notes, bills, negotiable instruments, or contracts for sale of goods.

• Extends attorney fee recovery to prevailing parties in civil actions to recover unpaid fees, fines, costs, expenses, or other debts owed to the state or its agencies as defined in Section 152 of Title 51.

• Exempts actions brought by the Department of Human Services to establish or enforce a debt owed to the state pursuant to Section 238 of Title 56 from the attorney fee provision.

• Effective date: November 1, 2015.
