SB 112 Summary

• Requires persons convicted of 22 specified violent and sexual crimes to serve at least 85% of their prison sentence before becoming eligible for parole consideration.

• Prohibits convicted offenders from receiving and accumulating earned credits or other sentence-reducing credits during the first 85% of their sentence.

• Allows the Department of Corrections to apply accumulated earned credits only after 85% of the sentence has been served, with immediate discharge possible if credits plus service time equals the total sentence.

• Grants the Director of Corrections discretion to award earned credits based on criteria in Section 138 of Title 57 of Oklahoma Statutes.

• Effective date: November 1, 2015.
