SB 136 Summary

• Requires the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board to make publicly available a list of supplemental online courses that have been reviewed and certified to ensure high quality and alignment with State Board of Education subject matter standards.

• Directs the Board to give special emphasis to listing supplemental online courses in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), foreign language, and advanced placement courses.

• Prohibits school districts from being limited to only Board-certified supplemental online courses; districts may select from other providers.

• Authorizes the Board to work with the Office of Management and Enterprise Services to negotiate contracts with supplemental online course providers to offer state rate pricing to school districts for Board-certified courses.
