Senate Bill 141 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma's motor vehicle report fee structure effective November 1, 2015.

• Reduces collision report fees from $15.00 to $7.00 beginning July 1, 2013, with $8.00 of the original fee directed to the Department of Public Safety Revolving Fund for Highway Patrol Academy operations.

• Modifies Motor Vehicle Report fees: Department charges $25.00 ($20.00 to General Revenue Fund, $5.00 to DPS Revolving Fund) for standard licenses and $15.00 ($10.00 to General Revenue Fund, $5.00 to DPS Revolving Fund) for commercial driver licenses.

• Allows motor license agents to collect Motor Vehicle Report fees with distribution of $25.00 ($18.00 to General Revenue Fund, $5.00 to DPS Revolving Fund, $2.00 retained by agent) for standard licenses and $15.00 ($8.00 to General Revenue Fund, $5.00 to DPS Revolving Fund, $2.00 retained by agent) for commercial licenses.

• Exempts persons 65 years of age or older from paying Motor Vehicle Report fees and authorizes the Department to establish bulk purchase rates for reduced per-report costs.
