SB 193 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma Emergency Response Systems Development Act definitions, including renaming "Stretcher aid van" to "Stretcher transport aid team (STAT)" and removing the 300,000 population requirement for STAT service areas in emergency medical service regions.

• Permits stretcher transport aid teams to carry and administer aspirin to persons exhibiting preliminary signs of a heart attack during performance of authorized transportation services.

• Authorizes EMS regions to contract with stretcher transport aid teams for non-emergency medical transportation services when calls require only stretcher transport and do not exceed stretcher team capabilities.

• Allows EMS regions, ambulance service districts, and municipalities to establish sole-provider systems for stretcher aid van and ambulance transports through competitive bidding, with contract terms publicly disclosed at least 60 days before start date.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2015.
