SB2 Summary

• Creates the Advisory Council on the Effect of Alzheimer's Disease in Oklahoma with 18 members appointed by the Speaker of the House (4), President Pro Tempore of the Senate (4), Governor (5), and public sector agencies (5), continuing until September 1, 2015.

• Council shall review and revise the 2009 Alzheimer's State Plan and update strategies to mobilize a state response to Alzheimer's disease, examining state trends, long-term care services, policy gaps, and existing resources and capacity.

• Advisory council must issue recommendations to the Legislature and Governor no later than September 1, 2016, and annually thereafter, with the State Plan reviewed at least every 5 years subject to legislative approval.

• Members receive no compensation but may be reimbursed for travel expenses according to applicable travel reimbursement laws, with the Department of Human Services providing staff support.

• Act becomes effective August 1, 2015, with an emergency clause declaring it immediately necessary for public peace, health, and safety.
