Full-time certified peace officers may carry agency-approved weapons while off-duty if wearing law enforcement uniform or carrying official badge, Commission Card, and CLEET Certification Card.

Off-duty weapon must be kept concealed or unconcealed at all times except when used according to employing agency guidelines.

Reserve peace officers who complete at least 120 hours of accredited training may carry certified weapons off-duty with written authorization from agency director and must carry badge, Commission Card, CLEET Certification Card, and written authorization.

Employing agencies must maintain and update lists of authorized reserve officers and provide copies to CLEET within 5 days of any changes.

Peace officers may apply for handgun licenses under the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act with a $25 fee, employment verification letter, and two passport-size photographs; OSBI will waive standard requirements except fingerprints and background checks if not previously conducted.

Act becomes effective November 1, 2015.
