Summary of Engrossed Senate Bill No. 253

• Board of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services membership increases from 11 to 12 members appointed by the Governor with Senate confirmation for seven-year terms.

• Two osteopathic physicians licensed to practice in Oklahoma shall be appointed from a list of at least six candidates submitted by the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association.

• Board quorum requirement increases from six to seven members, with actions requiring an affirmative vote of the majority of members present.

• Osteopathic physicians serving on the Mental Health board are permitted to concurrently serve on the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners and the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision.

• Act becomes effective November 1, 2015.
