SB30 Summary

• Amends sentencing provisions to add new options for courts including participation in drug court programs for marijuana felonies and orders to abstain or refrain from consuming alcohol with notation on driver licenses

• Expands prohibited conduct related to alcoholic beverages, including prohibition on selling alcohol to persons ordered to abstain or refrain from consuming alcohol, and prohibition on purchasing alcohol by those under such court orders

• Creates felony penalties (up to 5 years imprisonment and $2,500-$5,000 fines) for knowingly selling, furnishing, or giving alcohol to a person under 21 or to someone ordered to abstain from alcohol

• Requires Department of Public Safety to develop procedures for issuing and replacing driver licenses and identification cards bearing designations such as "Interlock Required," "Alcohol Restricted," "Sex Offender," or "Modified License" with appropriate expiration and renewal procedures

• Effective date: January 1, 2016
