Senate Bill 401 Summary

• Increases the prepaid wireless 9-1-1 fee from $0.50 to $1.00 per retail transaction and authorizes the Oklahoma Tax Commission to collect and distribute these fees to eligible public agencies providing 9-1-1 services.

• Requires wireless service providers to submit annual census data to the Oklahoma 9-1-1 Management Authority showing the primary place of use of wireless subscribers by county and municipality; establishes mandatory annual reporting and auditing requirements for public agencies providing 9-1-1 services.

• Repeals the Oklahoma Emergency Telephone Act (Sections 2801-2810) and modifies the Regional Emergency 9-1-1 Services Act, updating the deadline for public agencies to form regional emergency communication districts from 2012 to 2016.
