County assessor offices expire at the end of 2016 and are replaced by district assessor positions elected in the same manner as district judges, with filing through the State Election Board.

Assessor districts are drawn to coincide with judicial districts of Oklahoma by July 1, 2016, and will continue to align with any future judicial district modifications.

County assessors continue their assigned duties until a district assessor is elected for their respective district.

A new position of county appraiser is created for each county, appointed by the respective district assessor and operating under their direction.

References to "county assessor" in existing laws, contracts, or documents are deemed to refer to "district assessor" effective January 1, 2016.
