Officers, investigators, or agents from specified state law enforcement agencies are entitled to retain their sidearm and badge upon retirement by reason of length of service.

Officers retiring due to disability may retain their sidearm and badge with written approval from the applicable Director of their Bureau, Department, Commission, or district attorney office.

The sidearm and badge of deceased officers may be awarded to the spouse or next of kin by the applicable Director.

Correctional officers, probation and parole officers, and internal affairs agents of the Department of Corrections are entitled to retain only their badge upon retirement by reason of length of service.

The act becomes effective November 1, 2015.
