SB 57 Summary

• Letters of guardianship are valid for no longer than 15 months unless renewed by the court pursuant to Section 4-307.

• When no objection to an annual report is filed and no hearing is held, the court must issue an order accepting the report, granting relief requested, and renewing the letters of guardianship.

• During hearings on annual reports, courts may renew letters of guardianship as part of orders entered after reviewing the report and considering objections.

• Updated statutory language throughout Section 4-307 regarding annual report procedures, notice requirements, and court hearing provisions related to guardian compensation and property bonds.

• The act became effective November 1, 2015.
