SB 64 Summary

• Expands definition of "currently undergoing treatment for mental illness" in peace officer employment eligibility to include diagnosis by licensed mental health professionals in addition to physicians and psychologists.

• Allows peace officer certification reinstatement after involuntary mental health commitment upon receipt of psychological evaluation by licensed physician, psychologist, or licensed mental health professional attesting officer is psychologically suitable for duty.

• Permits CLEET to subpoena or request court subpoena of medical records necessary to ensure compliance with mental health evaluation provisions, with confidential information retained as confidential while in CLEET's possession.

• Effective November 1, 2015.
